| Description | Correspondence between Dominic Corrigan and Sir Philip Crampton about the possibility of Corrigan's accepting the position as Medical Commissioner in Ireland. Draft letter from Corrigan, 10 April 1850, gives Crampton details of his income from his private practice which he would have to give up to become commissioner. Corrigan declines the position on the grounds of the salary being only £1200 per year, which repersents a loss of earning of nearly £1500 for Corrigan. The letters also discuss the position and the role of the holder. |
