| Description | The idea for the Institute was first raised in 1966, the following year the first meeting of the executive was held, in 1975 a new constitution and standing orders were issued, and the Institute was more closely integrated into the College. The Institute is responsible for post graduate medical education and training in obstetrics and gynaecology in Ireland. It is responsible for the MRCPI (Obstetrics & Gynaecology) and the Diploma in Obstetrics and Women's Health, it also acts as a source of information and advice for professionals and government and statutory bodies. The Institute is open to all who have passed their MRCPI (Obstetrics & Gyaecology), the membership elects the officers who make up the executive Council every three years. |
