DescriptionThe Court of Visitors acted as overseers of the College, the role of the visitors was to advise the College if they were unsure of their powers under their Charter and By-laws, and to adjudicate in disputes between the College and its members. The visitors had the power to examine the records of the College. The Court of Visitors comprised the Lord Chancellor of Ireland, the Lord Chief Justice of the Queen's Bench, the Lord Chief Justice of the Common Pleas and the Lord Chief Baron of the Exchequer. This sections contains legal papers relating to case brought to the Court of Visitors against the College which related to the College, the cases relate to the election or disqualification of Fellows and the refusal of the College to examine candidates. The Court of Visitors also had jurisdiction over the College's management of the Sir Patrick Dun's Trust, papers relating to case brought relating to the Trust can be found in RCPI/4/1/4
