DescriptionManuscript letter from Henry Smith to Richard Butcher thanking him for his 'pamphlet on wounded arteries', and only wishing he had it before publishing a recent case, which he discusses at length, commenting that 'Guthrie ... scolded me for tying the iliac'. Smith is please Butcher liked 'the notice of your paper' on excision, which he believes it will increase the use of the operation. Smith states that 'even at Guy's, a place we consider of rather antiquated notions in surgery, they have been doing this operation'.
