| Description | Comprises a selection of presentation glassware given either to mark an occasion within the Mater or as a retirement gift; namely a large glass bowl made by Galway Irish Crystal in green presentation box inscribed ‘Presented to Sister M Lucia Therese In Acknowledgment of her devoted service as Matron of the Mater Misericordiae Hospital’ along with the School of Nursing badge [c1992]; a glass bowl issued on the centenary of the Mater School of Nursing inscribed with the nurses badge and ‘Mater Misericordiae Hospital 1891-1991’ (1991); a small glass bowl marked ‘Fáilte Crystal Ireland’ inscribed ‘Mater Misericordiae Hospital’ and ‘SMS Ireland’ [c1995]; and a small glass bowl in blue presentation box given to Sister Margherita Rock on the opening of the Catherine McAuley centre in 2004 by Dr Hugh Brady, President, University College Dublin, inscribed ‘University College Dublin’, the college crest, and ‘Catherine McAuley Centre 4 October 2004’. Also includes a typed copy of a letter from Sr Margherita to Dr Brady thanking him for the glassware and congratulating him on the centres’ opening (11 Oct 2004), and a small ‘thank you’ card from Sr Helena O ’Donoghue and the Sisters of Mercy (Dec 2001). |
