| Description | Long rectangular box containing a large cylindrical vial. It contains a sterilised liquid and 50 strands of 12 inch silkworm gut. The larger label says in red and black in "MacFarlan's 4426 Sterilized Surgical Silkworm Gut 50 strands each 12 inches White Size 3 Medium J.F. Macfarlan & Co. Ltd. Edinburg & London" and the smaller in black ink"When Re-ordering please quote the following: 3GS551". The original colour was meant to be white however over time this has gone to a dark brown. The manufacturer's mark is present on both the box and the vial. Silkworm gut is used as sutures in the temporary stitching of wounds. |
