| Description | Black faux leather case with hinged lid, leather top handle, and front locks, containing the Gillies Mark III anaesthetic machine, a portable assembly. Inside the case is the anaesthetic machine, consisting of a green-coated metal apparatus with valves and an outlet for connecting rubber tubing and detachable masks, which are also stored in the box. The machine features control valves and clear glass tubes for monitoring oxygen and nitrous oxide levels.
The set includes a wheeled stand base and a vertical stand designed to hold gas reservoirs, which are now missing. Made by the British Oxygen Company, as engraved, and sold by Industrial Gases Ltd in 1973, as indicated on the paper tag. The case is branded Travelgoods limited. The item was presented to Dr O'Connor, anaesthetist to Mr Corbett, ENT consultant at Ardkeen Hospital. |
