TitleNeedle Steriliser Interior Case
Date1900-1949
DescriptionThis is the interior case of a needle and suture steriliser, which is a circular metal container that would be slotted into a slightly larger circular container and then placed into the steriliser machine.
Both sides of this case are perforated with holes, totaling to 26 holes on each side. Within the case is purple suture material, most likely nylon, that would have been used to suture injuries or sugery sites closed. There are five separate lengths of suture material.
Both sides of the case are mildly scratched from use, with only a small amount of corrosion on the bottom side of the container and along the seam where the two pieces separate. There is moderate corrosion evident on the interior of the bottom of the case, and little corrosion on the interior of the top of the case.
