| Description | This is a Beck's London-style Microscope in a mahogany case. The case features a handle, and a hinged lid, which can be secured with a hook-locking mechanism. The base of the box has an internal structure made of wood covered with green velvet to safely secure the microscope in position. It is a monocular microscope and features an inclinable stand and a rack and pinion mechanism for coarse adjustment by moving the body tube up and down, made of metal coated in black. There is also a micrometer screw for fine adjustment made of brass. The draw tube can be extended or retracted, with a millimetre scale to measure the length of extension. The microscope includes a swinging double mirror to reflect light up through the specimen, and a revolving diaphragm to adjust the light. The eyepiece is detachable and is engraved with "Foreign". It also features three rotating objectives for different magnification levels, engraved with A, B, and C. |
