| Description | This is a pair of locked forceps, made of stainless steel. On the shaft, there is stamped the maker’s mark ‘Thackray, Leeds’ on one side and ‘Stainless steel’ on the other. The two shafts are curved and screw jointed, with finger rings on one end. At the other tip, one shaft has a looped tip with a fenestration, whereas the other has a toothed tip. Towards the finger rings, there is a ratcheted mechanism. Signs of wear and tear present. This type of forceps was used for the inspection of the cervix during gynaecological procedures.
