DescriptionSilver ewer of cylindrical form, the hinged lid with leafy finial above an s-scroll handle with palmette thumb rest, the spout chased with mask decoration and the entire with repoussé work, trailing foliage amidst scrolls and cartouches raised on a circular base. Small engraving of the coat of arms of Dominic Corrigan (sword pointing downwards between two battleaxes surrounded by the motto "CONSILIO ET IMPETU") along with the inscription "To/Dominic J. Corrigan Esqr. M.D./as a mark of the/Warm Friendship/and/Affectionate Gratitude/OF/EDWARD HUTTON". Stamped near rim with the maker's initials "RH" and London hallmarks for the year 1864.

HistoryNote in Register reads 'It is probable that this Edward Hutton was a graduate of Dublin University in 1821, MD 1842. he was a first cousin of Miss C Hutton who was engaged to be married to Thomas Davis the young Irelander who died in 1843'
