DescriptionThis is a dilating and self-retaining nasal speculum, as designed by Benjamin Fraenkel in 1872. It consists of two dilating arms, which are operated through a twistable-screw mechanism. Being self-retaining, it enables hands-free operation during surgery.
The tips of these arms are elongated and hollow, designed to open up the nasal passages. There is no manufacturer’s mark.
