The volume consists of reports of the Managing Committee for the years ending 4 January 1831, 31 March 1840, 1842, 1843, 1845, 1846, 1856, 1859, 1860, 1861, 1862, 1866, 1867, 1874 (report for two years), and every year ending 31 March between 1875 and 1888.

The volume also contains attached medical reports for 1830, 1839, 1841, 1842, 1843, 1844 and 1845 (joint report), and the years ending 31 March 1856, 1859, 1860, 1861, 1862, 1866, 1867, and every year ending 31 March between 1873 and 1888.

The medical report for 1872-1873 includes an appendix on the smallpox epidemic of 1871-1873, written by Thomas Wrigley Grimshaw, physician in Cork Street Fever Hospital.

A wide range of topics are evident in the reports, including improvements and extensions to hospital accommodation, hospital finances, efforts to introduce better sanitary measures in Dublin, theories on the causes of fever (including the perceived influence of the weather), opinions regarding types of treatment, descriptions of individual cases and treatments used, and increased intakes of patients due to epidemics of cholera and smallpox.
