Description
Typescript account of a lecture given by Norman on Melancholia. Norman begins by discussing the importance of the language used in describing patients both on lunacy certificates and in talking to the patients so as not 'to wound their feelings'. Norman then discusses melancholia, delusion and suicide, he illustrates his lecture with two patients from the Asylum who are brought into the lecture room.
A manuscript note gives the patients names and [case numbers].
