Straight blade etched with floral decoration, crowned "GRV" cypher, a six-pointed star, the motto "IN ARDUIS FIDELIS" and the words "TO THE KING/T.G. PHILLIPS/4, DAME ST./DUBLIN". In hard brown leather scabbard within [cloth] pouch and outer carrying case. Horne was a Captain in the Royal Army Medical Corps during the First World War and was a son of Sir Andrew John Horne (1856-1924).
