This teaching was overseen by the Hospital's Medical Board, made up of the hospital's three physicians and three surgeons. The hospital was granted a Royal Charter in 1920, one of the last to be granted in Ireland. The Adelaide Hospital closed in 1998, when it was incorporated as part of the new Tallaght Hospital.
