| Description | Copy and original letters from the College to members asking them to explain the use of testimonials by them on advertisements for medical products, as this goes against College policy and the oath taken when entering the College, with responses from some doctor either stating their case or agreeing to withdraw testimonials, many also contain copies of adverts.
Case covered include those of a Dr J D Sexton, who is advertising his services to various medical aid societies (1894). Correspondence between Sir Charles Cameron and various agencies about Cameron's research on new products and attempts by Sir Charles to have his name removed from one advertisement (1903), Dr West and Dr McEvoy who gave testimonials for Valentine's Meat Juice (1906), and Dr Duke's who name appear in adverts for Hommel's Haematogen. |
