| Description | In November 1887 the Apothecaries' Hall of Ireland appealed to the General Medical Council asking to be allowed to join the Conjoint Examinations Board. The College of Physicians objected to this as they believed that under the Medical Acts Apothecaries' Hall was not one of the institutions allowed to issue licenses in Medicine, Surgery or Midwifery, and that the College of Physicians and Surgeons together were enough to meet the needs of the Acts. File contains printed Report of the Committee set up by the College to consider the matter (December 1886), printed Remarks of the college on the letter of the Apothecaries' Hall to the General Medical Council (1887) and a Statement of the College on the request of the General Medical Council to allow the Apothecaries to join the Conjoint Examination Scheme for Ireland (1887). File also contains printed minutes of the General Medical Council relating to this subject. |
