| Description | Hard bound printed and manuscript register listing pupils attending the Mater Misericordiae Hospital for medical and surgical training. Printed title on front cover reads ‘Mater Misericordiae Hospital Register of Pupils Commencing Session 1894-1895’. Alphabetical index and individual manuscript entries headings are same as MMUHA/5/1/1/1. The institutions that pupils are attending from are noted in shorthand in the ‘Professional Standing’ column, such as ‘RUI’ [Royal University of Ireland],’ TCD’ [Trinity College Dublin], ‘RCSI’ [Royal College of Surgeons Ireland], or ‘Conj’ [on a Conjoint Licence]. There are also a number of female pupils enrolled for tuition, the earliest attending in 1899. There are modern manuscript notes in pencil beside certain entries which indicate whether a pupil went on to become a registered clinician also including their addresses when registered, or noting that they had since died. From p.169 onwards there are manuscript notes indicating that the student attended Cork Street Fever Hospital for the ‘Fever course’ offered by the Mater.
Manuscript notes inside the front cover pages note certain pupils’ names, payment dates, and register page numbers, as well as the amount of fees due or paid.
