| Description | Hard bound volume containing the signed manuscript minutes of the Medical Board of the Mater Misericordiae Hospital. Minutes include signed manuscript and typed letters pasted into the volume that were read to and written by the Board relating to items on the agenda on a variety of topics such as administrative matters, staff appointments, the Hospitals sporting clubs, building redevelopments, and issues with resident staff, amongst others. Evidence of pages having been removed.
The Minutes deal with the election of Resident staff along with House Physicians and Surgeons each October/November for Winter Sessions and each January/May for Summer Sessions, as well the appointment of Clinical Clerks in September, January, and May; Leonard prize results in June; discussions regarding the ‘Central Hospital Scheme for Dublin’ including talks between the Mater and St Vincent’s Hospital to form a joint staff committee (Dec 1924- 1925); application and appointments to the hospital including the roles of Visiting Surgeon, Assistant Surgeons, Assistant Physicians and Pathologist; discussions concerning improving the record keeping system in the departments (17 Nov 1925); retirement of Sir Arthur Chance as surgeon to the hospital (1 Feb 1926); Air Raid Precautions preparations 1939-1942; the establishment of a Venereal Diseases Clinic c1944; the reorganisation of the X-Ray Department 1946; the establishment of cardiac unit July 1951; amongst others.
