| History | It is not clear what the origin of this collection of large nineteenth century medical illustrations is, or if they originally formed one group. The majority of the illustrations relate to skin diseases, and it is clear that part of this collection was commissioned by Wallace Beatty, and seems to have been used by him as teaching aids at the end of the nineteenth century. It is possible that Beatty also collected some of the earlier illustrations, and certainly some have notes identifying the patient's condition which seem to have been added later. |
