This minutes book covers the period when the hospital was located at 11 Usher's Island, 1876-1883. Points of interest include the discussion on the hospitals sources of funding, both donations and events. Monthly accounts for outgoing expenditure on food and wages. Appointments of staff, trustees and new patients and the search for a new premises for the hospital.
Notible events include the Bazaar and Pomenade Concert in 1878/1879 at the Dublin Exhibition Palace and Winter Garden and the Bazaar of September 1883 for the funding of the new premises.
The minutes book notes that on the 10 December 1883, 15 Upper Merrion Street was proposed as the new premises for the hospital and on the 25 June 1884 it was declared that Great Brunswick Street would be the new home of the Dublin Orthopaedic Hospital. Finally, after 1884 the minute book take a heavy focus on finanical business. |
