On the front upon dark blue material is a large, circular bronze disc depicting a doctor and nurse attending to a patient lying in bed. Around the edge is inscribed "ROYAL VICTORIA HOSPITAL BICENTENARY/1797/1997". The plaque is backed with dark blue felt and a metal bracket for hanging. Also attached to the back is a photograph and short biography of the artist, John Bryson Martin (b. On the front of the cap is the Sir Patrick Dun's Hospital coat of arms, the initials "S.P.D.H.F.C" and the date "1900-1901" on the brim. The maker's name and address are on the interior lining: "W.LAIRD./3, CORN MARKET./BELFAST./[O]NLY ADDRES[S]". | 1901 |
