Grimwade Brothers started in Stoke-on-Trent, later becoming Grimwades Ltd when Leonard Grimwade's brother joined. They acquired the Winton Porcelain factory and developed key processes to improve production efficiency. The company expanded by taking over other potteries and introduced the famous Royal Winton chintz designs. They exhibited at the British Industries Fair and eventually changed their name to Royal Winton.
