  <dc:title>Rotunda Governor's Pass Token</dc:title>
<dc:description>Rotunda Governor's Pass Token. Bimetal; silver-coloured, circular base with the words: "GOVERNORS PASS No. 9" around the edge; smaller, dark copper-coloured, convex disc in centre, embossed with the words: "THE LYING-IN HOSPITAL", the year "1745" and an image of the hospital building with crown atop. Several scratches on reverse. [Stored in a small, unrelated box for ease of label attachment.]

From accession record: In the Hospital's early days, each Governor was provided with a Pass, to be used when he wished to visit and inspect the premises. This is the only specimen known to survive. From it was designed the Rotunda Bicentenary Congress Badge (Dublin, 1947).</dc:description>
