  <dc:description>[Bronze] medal created for the centenary of the birth of Albert Calmette, discoverer of the BCG vaccine.  Obverse:  a relief portrait of Calmette with his name, the dates 1863-1933 and the maker's name "P. TURIN".  Reverse:  around the edge are the words "INSTITUT PASTEUR PARIS LILLE" and in the centre, "CENTENAIRE 1963".  In a circular, mahogany red presentation box.

The 1965 National BCG Committee Annual Report records the presentation of a Calmette medallion to Rose O'Doherty.  This may be the same medal.</dc:description>
