  <dc:description>The Section of Surgery was one of the original section of the Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland, founded in 1882. The section of surgery replaced the Surgical Society of Ireland. The section of surgery is governed by a council and President. The section holds a series of monthly meetings from October to May were members present surgical cases.
The minute books of the section contain minutes of the meetings of the section, with details of papers presented, and minutes of the council of the section, with details of the arrangement of section meetings, membership and organisation. 
Note: The first minute book covering the period 1882 to 1892 is missing.</dc:description>
