Time off from teaching duties are noted throughout the calendar year including ‘Easter Recess’, ‘Summer Vacation’, Christmas holidays, bank holidays, holy days, and other notable events which are also marked in the register, such as a national day of mourning for Queen Victoria’s death on 22 January 1901.

The ‘Remarks’ column contains a variety of notes and comments between staff members. Topics include whether certain staff missed teaching attendance and the reasons why; whether clinical teaching was conducted or not; and questioning by staff of the Hospital clocks’ timekeeping versus the City clock. Also includes rough hand clinical drawings and sketches by staff throughout the register. There is also evidence of pages having been removed throughout.
