  <dc:description>Slim hardbound notebook with manuscript notations used by [?physician Thomas Hayden] to note patients’ treatments in the Mater Misericordiae Hospital, Dublin. Front cover has a small manuscript title reading ‘Dr Hayden’. Inside both the front and back covers are manuscript notations on patients and their treatments; the front cover also features a bookplate with the notebooks’ printers name and crest of ‘Joseph Dollard, Manufacturer’. The layout of the volume features a blotting page faced with a manuscript page of notes; each page of case notes generally contains the date, the ward name, and the patients’ surname with their proscribed treatments and/or pharmaceutical mixtures to be administered underneath written in medical shorthand. 

Physical Condition: Very bad; notebook has extensive mould on cover and inside cover; water damage on pages; blotting pages are beginning to disintegrate throughout; requires extensive conservation. Bindings along the spine are also disintegrating and detaching from the notebook.</dc:description>
