  <dc:title>Silver Pap Boat</dc:title>
  <dc:description>Silver pap boat with ring handle added later. Half of a lion passant hallmark is stamped to the left of the ring indicated it was made in England.  A makers mark "SM" is also stamped to the left of the ring. To the right of the ring is the crowned leopards head London Assay Office stamp indicating it was made in London, and to right of that is an upper case  ‘J’ in gothic script indicating the piece was made in 1764 per the London Assay Office. 
Pap boats were used to feed children and patients 'pap', a mix of gruel, bread, and milk. Most pap boats were produced between 1715-1830s. </dc:description>
