  <dc:title>Barton Sphygmomanometer</dc:title>
<dc:description>This is a sphygmomanometer in the "Barton" style, comprised of the instrument and a booklet of instructions and information. The instrument itself contains a blood pressure cuff, a dial, and a pump. The cuff is made of fabric, and connects to the dial and pump through two rubber hoses. The pump is a small, hand-held object used to inflate the cuff and restrict bloodflow to measure blood pressure, and has a small metal screw attached right above it to the hose. The dial runs from 2 to 26 in increments of 2 with "m/m" at the base, and has "THE 'BARTON' SPHYGMOMANOMETER" in the top half and "SURGICAL MANUFACTURING CO. LTD. 85 MORTIMER STREET.W." in the bottom half.

The fabric of the cuff is in good condition, with no ripping or tearing. There is a small amount of staining on one side. The plastic of the bulb shows general signs of wear and tear from being squeezed, which become more present when squeezed. The dial shows the most wear and tear, with the metal being tarnished and the dial face slightly discolored. The glass covering the dial is slightly tarnished, but it doesn't impede visibility of the dial face.

The booklet is light blue, with a bold dark blue typeface. The front cover says "The 'Barton' Sphygmomanometer" with an image of the instrument in the middle. Below the image it says "Price £4 4s. 0d. POST FREE", followed by "We shall be pleased to send on approval to any Member of the Profession in the United Kingdom on application."At the bottom of the cover it details the company information, "The Surgical Manufacturing Co., Ltd. 83-85, MORTIMER STREET, LONDON, W.1. And at 89 WEST REGENT STREET, GLASGOW."</dc:description>
