  <dc:title>Uterine Sound</dc:title>
<dc:description>This item is a Uterine Sound, Reid's type, made of metal by “Fannin Dublin”, as inscribed on the handle. It consists of a lengthy shank, segmented into marked sections for measurement, a textured handle, and a smooth, slightly curved broad tip.

A slightly modified version of the instrument still continues to be used as a gynaecological instrument for determining the length and position of the uterus.
Minor corrosion on the handle.</dc:description>
