<dc:title>Barnes' Midwifery Forceps</dc:title>
<dc:description>The Midwifery Forceps are the Barnes’ type, composed of two separate, curved, and fenestrated blades with short handles.
The blades are applied one at a time, with the left blade being applied first, followed by the right.
They are then secured together with an axis traction locking mechanism that would have been inserted into the hole in the handle. However, this locking mechanism is missing in this instance.
The forceps are made of nickel-plated metal, which shows signs of corrosion.
The item was manufactured in England by “Fannin & Co Ltd Dublin”, as engraved on the handles.
This tool is used in cases of fetal malposition and maternal exhaustion to enable precise application and controlled traction during delivery.</dc:description>
