Blake's Uterine Curette This is a Blake's Uterine Curette, which is a long, double-ended instrument. At each end there is a rounded fenestration, with one fenestration larger than the other. These fenestrations face opposite directions. The middle of the shank has a grip that is double-sided and ridged. There is moderate corrosion present within each fenestration, and severe corrosion on each side of the grip. The plating is also flaking off the fenestrations, the grip, and along the shank in a few places. These curettes were used to scrape tissue off the inner lining of the uterine wall for a variety of reasons, including tissue samples and aiding in tissue removal. 1900-1949
