  <dc:description>This instrument is a Corrigan's Button.  It consists of a metal shank, which ends in a small disc or button and is attached to a black wooden handle.  Designed by Irish physician and past President of RCPI, Sir Dominic Corrigan, it was heated and applied to the skin to relieve muscle pain.  Slightly rusted.</dc:description>
