  <dc:description>Square leather box, internally lined with red satin and velvet. The main body is T-shaped, with a flared base. The set comes with three interchangable ear pieces called specula. At the other end was an eyepiece with a weak magnifying lens and an adjustable focus. A perforated concave mirror at an angle of 45° was fitted inside the tube itself.Ear pieces are supported by velvet and wooden frames. Invented by John Brunton in 1865. It allowed doctors to examine the inside of a patient's ear. No manuacturer's mark present.</dc:description>
