  <dc:title>Sims' Vaginal Speculum</dc:title>
<dc:description>Metal Sim's vaginal speculum. It is a double-bladed surgical instrument used for examining the vagina and cervix. It was developed by J. Marion Sims. It is inserted into the vagina to retract the posterior vaginal wall. The groove in the middle allowed for free flow of secretions and blood to the outside, keeping the area dry. Stamped with the number '2' in central groove. Part of the Dr Diarmuid O'Driscoll Collection.</dc:description>
