<dc:title>Gibson's Catheter</dc:title>
<dc:description>This uterine flushing catheter is of the Gibson type. It is a slender metal tube, gently curved at both ends in opposite directions. The catheter consists of a metal tube and a detachable tip, which can be removed by twisting the bolt. The rounded detachable tip features two longitudinal ports on the side, positioned at different points, and one oval port at the end towards the bolt. At the opposite end of the catheter, there are two rings designed to hold it securely, and a bulbous-shaped spike for insertion into a flush pouch. The engraving reads “Smith & Seppard Dublin”.
This type of catheter was commonly used for the treatment and prevention of uterine infections through uterine lavage. Some discolouration and stains are present.</dc:description>
