  <dc:title>Universal Plate Scissors</dc:title>
<dc:description>These are nickel-plated Universal Plate Scissors, manufactured by Ash England. It is comprised of two shafts, fastened together with a screw joint. On one end of the scissors there are two finger rings attached to each shaft, whilst on the other end, the shafts narrow to form a blunt tip. Each blade on the working end is slightly twisted so that when in a closed position, there is a narrow gap between the two blades. Scissors like these would have been used to cut metal for the purpose of filling cavaties in patients' teeth, but are no longer a regularly used instrument in dentistry.

There are signs of wear and tear and the nickel appears to be corroded in some places.</dc:description>
