Cusco's Speculum This is a vaginal speculum of the Cusco type, composed of two duckbill-shaped metal blades. It features folding handles and a central screw. The manufacturer’s mark, “Fannin Dublin Made in England,” is inscribed on the upper blade. The handles are engraved with the number “6”. The vaginal speculum is inserted into the vagina to dilate it for examination of the vagina and cervix. It is used for procedures such as cervical smear tests and contraceptive insertions. 1900-1949
