Freemason's Gavel Freemason's gavel. Ivory. Cylindrical head, both ends of which are engraved with Masonic symbols of a square and compasses encosing a book. The letters "PIW" or "MId" [depending on angle at which it is read] scratched onto the head of gavel. Some damage at point where handle and head join. [1900-1949]
