  <dc:title>Cyclopia Medal</dc:title>
  <dc:description>Brass medal made by Moore &amp; Co. of Grafton Street.  Obverse:  in the shape of a peacock with its tail opened, the word "CYCLOPIA", below, and the date "MAY 1896" on either side.  Reverse:  the maker's name and address.  There is a perforated, triangular piece of dark brown metal attached to the top, presumably part of an attachment.  

"Cyclopia" was a charity bazaar, which took place in Dublin in May 1896 in order to raise funds for the amalgamation of the National Eye and Ear Infirmary and St Mark’s Ophthalmic Hospital (ref.:  Condon, Denis (2012) '"Baits to Entrap the Pleasure-Seeker and the Worldling":  Charity Bazaars Introduce Moving Pictures to Ireland.'
