Handwritten label on back of frame reads:  "Portrait of Dr Charles Lucas M.D. (Irish Patriot)/Born in the Co. Clare 1713./Painted by Thomas Hickey 1769.  Signed &amp; dated./Engraved by Patrick Halpin and published in 1771/as a portrait of the Dr Head.  Formerly in the [Henry]/Harrington Collection which was sold in Dublin 1832./J.J.[Gerry] 8/1/37".  </dc:description>
