  <dc:title>Potassium Iodide in Bottle</dc:title>
<dc:description>This is a bottle of crystalized Potassium Iodide. This bottle is clear glass with a glass square stopper embossed with number "61", still containing its original crystals of Potassium Iodide (KI) contents. The bottle bears a white typewritten label reading "Potassium Iodide. Dose: 5-20 grs."

The bottom of the bottle is embossed with "F.T.I.L."

Potassium Iodide was historically used in medicine as a mucolytic, expectorant, and thyroid treatment. It was commonly prescribed for respiratory conditions such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, and lung congestion, helping to thin mucus and facilitate its expulsion. Additionally, it played a crucial role in thyroid therapy, particularly in the treatment of goitre, iodine deficiency, and hyperthyroidism. In some cases, it was also used to protect the thyroid from radioactive iodine exposure. While still in medical use today, modern formulations have largely replaced traditional dispensing methods.
