  <dc:title>Ermold's Needle Holder</dc:title>
<dc:description>This is a needle holder as designed and patented by German Surgical Instruments maker George Ermold. This " invention consists of a needle-holder for surgical use provided with a hollow and a solid jaw, each of which being transversely recessed, a transverse ridge extending between the recesses of the hollow jaw and the recess of the solid jaw fitting over said ridge, so as to firmly clamp the needle while making a stitch" (G. Ermold, 1902). The logo “F” is inscribed inside one handle, which could possibly indicate the manufacturer, along with the words “Chrome plate”. An additional engraving, reading “CL”, has been manually added at the screw joint. </dc:description>
