Schimmelbusch Mask This is a Schimmelbusch-type mask, used for open chloroform anaesthesia. It features a round metal frame with off-white textile gauze secured and covering the frame. The mask was applied to the patient’s nose and mouth, allowing the anaesthetic to be dropped onto the fabric and subsequently inhaled.
