Tincture of Ginger (Tinctura Zingiberis) was historically used as a stimulant, carminative, and digestive aid. Made from ginger root extracted in alcohol, it was commonly prescribed to relieve indigestion, flatulence, colic, and nausea. Its warming properties also made it a remedy for circulatory sluggishness and cold-related ailments. While ginger remains widely used in herbal medicine today, alcohol-based tinctures like this have largely been replaced by capsules, teas, and modern pharmaceutical formulations.
