Admin/Biog HistoryVivien Gribble (later Doyle-Jones) (1888-1932) was an English artist and wood engraver. Her mother, Norah Gribble (née Royds) (1859-1923) was also an artist, trained originally at the Slade. Norah was friends and neighbours with the Oppés, and both Norah and Vivien lived in Chelsea.
DescriptionThis file contains seventeen letters from both Norah & Vivien Gribble, dated betwen 13 May 1917-[c 1923], concerning various matters, including the loss of their son & brother, Julian, who died of influenza in a German prisoner of war camp towards the end of the First World War. Some letters from Vivien offer advice on where is best to buy toys in London.

Also includes a drafted letter to 'Mrs Gribble' from Valentine, [undated].
